More and more women these days desire to start their own business. Now, starting a business can be a real chore. You need to consider things like payroll, business location, licenses, hiring staff, etc. Now, on top of all that, you also need to figure out how you are going to pay for it all. Now you may have heard about small business grants for women, but the question is “Do they really exist?”
So, truth be told, the government rarely hands out free cash to aspiring female, or even male, entrepreneurs. And, if you think about it, why would they? Most businesses fail in the first year. Not to sound negative, but it would be a risky endeavor on their end. Now, I said they “rarely” hand out free money. So, this implies that there are times when they do, however, these instances are reserved for companies that meet a very specific economic need and the government usually has some control over the operations of the company in those cases.
Now, if you are desperately seeking government small business grants for women, I would suggest looking in a different area for funds. I would encourage you to seek out private organizations for money. There are a number of private entities that will loan you money. Simply do an internet search specific to private funding for your type of business, and you should be able to find companies that will at least let you apply.
The key, whether you pursue private or governmental funding, is to be persistent. Make sure you understand clearly the application process and which forms you will need to fill out. Be patient as you may need to wait a while before getting answers. Remember persistence and patience is key. If you don’t hear from these organizations after several weeks, it is more than appropriate to follow up with them.
